I am definitely in the flow this year. I have done 3 small pencil sketches and submitted 3 pieces to Deviant. I know that these images are crude and very basic, with lots of errors, but I am hoping that my progress will become evident over the weeks and months ahead. I definitely feel my way is towards the sketchy/impressionistic side. Apart from my lack of patience and determination to see a long project through, time is also an issue, as for 6 months every year we are off exploring the UK and Europe with our caravan. Best wishes to all for 2014 and onward. I think I am suffering from the Deviant Art effect. I woke up this morning, day 1 of 2014, wondering how I was going to progress my digital painting. I did some research on books and programs, searching for some inspiration. After a while I wandered into the kitchen to make a coffee, and noticed a rather nice photo on the front cover of a magazine. Suddenly I was inspired to sketch and paint. Thirty minutes later the work was finished. All I can think is that looking at hundreds of great images on Deviant has made some changes in my brain.

My first week has been a lot of fun, and I have discovered the work of some wonderful artists and photographers, who are now represented in my favourites gallery. Although I have 15,000 photographs to choose from, I am holding back from submitting work until I create something that represents my current path of digitally created art. I am assimilating ideas and concepts from the amazing deviantART community, which I am confident will eventually filter through into my work.
